Ribbons For Haiti
When you have very little to help when a disaster strikes, you tend to look at the "what" you can do to help. This
was the case for our family with September 11, 2001 and is the case now with the need for help Haiti. Our answer is to create and sell that
which we created, then donate the profits to Haiti. The way we did this on September 11, 2001, was we designed and created our own style of
awareness ribbons and sold them in the local convenience stores.
These ribbons were no ordinary ribbons like you find in the stores and online. These were made by taking a strip
of blue cloth, folding it in fours to create the blue ribbon, (there was no satin ribbon in blue anywhere!), then placing a white ribbon
just a bit smaller on top of that, then a red ribbon on top the white. We then folded it into an awareness ribbon form, sewed in the center to
hold it all together and then placed a star patch in the center. When done, these were very stylish and sold like hotcakes in the shops in our
town. We were able to take a little and make a lot!
Now with Haiti in great need of as much help as they can get, our family is again
creating awareness ribbons to sell to raise much needed funds to send to Haiti. These ribbons are made with red cloth, for Haiti, a
black satin ribbon on top the red, this is for the mourning we all feel for Haiti and behind the red cloth is a silver organza ribbon,
for the hope that the aftershocks will end, more people will be found alive and that as many people who can help out, do help out as much as
possible with what one reporter called, an "apoptolictic quake" that has devastated millions of people and may have killed as many as
200,000 people!
You too can help Haiti by placing an order for one of the beautifully hand crafted awareness ribbons shown
here. We have three different ribbons to choose from. Ribbon with cross in center, ribbon with heart in center, or ribbon with heart and cross in
center. Each ribbon comes with a pin to attach the ribbon to your jacket lapel, shirt, purse, whatever you wish to attach your ribbon
to in order to show your awareness and help to the Haitian people.
Ribbons are approximately 2 1/2" high, and 1 1/2" wide at the bottom.
Ribbons are $2.50 each, plus $2.50 shipping on first ribbon, multiple ribbons can be shipped for the same
$2.50 fee, therefore, shipping charges only apply to the first ribbon, all additional ribbons ship free in the same padded
